¡@ ¡@ Development of satellite information service system of far sea fishing grounds
The information service system of satellite images had been launched formally since January in 2005. The total deep-sea fishing company of using this system at present is that the member person of squid's association has 60, tuna's association member person to have 22, total fishing boats estimate over more than 200.
Our institute has held two forums in August 12 and December 1, 2005. In the forums, we arranged the specialist lectures of Japanese expert and our country fishery scholars in the meeting and also invite fishermen and government officer at the same time to have an informal discussion.
The satellite images database of deep-sea fishing grounds had been constructed and had already collected various kinds of satellite images of 6,380. In addition, the multi-satellite images information service system websites of fishing ground already set up in our institute, which can offer the fishermen and academic research consult application.
This study had already collected and amounted the sample ship fishing statistics of southwestern Atlantic Ocean squid fishery to 10,431, northwestern Pacific Ocean Pacific saury fishery to 10,431 and western Pacific Ocean tuna and skipjack purse-seine fishery to 6,100. Those data will apply to examine the relationship between fishery and oceanographic condition.

¡@ ¡@ Frontal analysis of satellite-derived sea surface temperture and ocean color images apply edge detection technology
Apply Canny edge detects technology to examine the gradient vectors of 1991-2000 monthly SST images, tried to extract automatically the frontal distributions (line layers) and analyze their spatial and temporal variations. The result show that the fronts usually takes place to cross in the interaction between the Kuroshio warm current and the Mainland cold water.

¡@ ¡@ Analysis on typhoon-induced cold eddy using multi-satellite sensor in the East China Sea
The multi-satellite images, including NOAA/AVHRR and MODIS images, had been applied to examine the dominant induced cold eddy by Meari typhoon (No. 0421) passing across the continental slope of the East China Sea in 2004. The spatial and temporal variations of cold eddy also had been studied from satellite images by GIS technology.

¡@ ¡@ A product exploration on frequency-conversion tracking system of GPS radio buoys

This study will improve traditional radio fishing buoy, used to be utilized in tuna longline and American type purse seine fisheries, to enhance their efficiency by using the up-to-date GPS satellite location, radio communication and digital coding technologies. This highly integrated system may help fishermen to decrease time expense and oil-consumptions while retrieving radio buoys. Moreover, buoy searching distance can be extended, and fishermen may operate other fishing while waiting. The system tracks up to 60 buoys and display their locations, distance, speed and directions. Results of this year are described below:
1.Improvements, re-assembly and reliability tests of system power of main-control computer.
2.Decision of an attached GPS antenna which could be embedded into the upper lid of a radio buoy
3.Completed a extremely long baseline signal test for near 330 Km from Lan-Yu Island to San-Tau Cape.
4.Designed PLL controlling and tuning PCB and firmware for OEM receiver board.
5.Designed decoding PCB and firmware.
6.Added a temperature sensor to TX board and re-programming the TX firmware.
7.Added a autopilot function for each buoy to main-control software.
8.Designed electronic PCB and managing software of the value-added memory module of TX board.
9.Tried to do a marketing analysis of this product.
10. Prepared documental contents for technology transfer of this product.

¡@ ¡@ Studies on remote field-monitoring and traceability system of aquaculture

For promotion and enhancement of agriculture value chain integrated with a virtually identified produce system (VIPS), aquaculture field observation grid and a traceability information system will be applied and developed. Hard clam is the main target aquaculture species of this 94-year study. Some results are summarized as follows:
.1.Fix a multi-parameter (water temperature, salinity, DO, ORP and H 2 S) water quality monitoring system beside TaiSee hard clam pool, which can be remotely controlled and accessed recording data by internet.
2.Settle two in-situ cameras (above and under water) to monitoring water-quality instrument, the rainfall and changes of color of pool water.
3.Complete a SOP document: Great Aquaculture Principle for hard clam.
4.Draw out the structures of traceability database for hard clam aquaculture.
5.Build a website for recording and inquiring the procreation procedures of hard clam aquaculture and do input a full set of data for demonstration.

¡@ ¡@ Development of Value-added Application on the Knowledge of Fisheries Technology

This project is to implement the knowledge management policy of COA and to maintain the web sites and network security of the Institute. Also, it continues to expand the full text retrieval system of fisheries technology in Taiwan that was established in 2003. The study was to test the efficiency of optical character recognition (OCR) by comparing the text and its appearance within the PDF file. The result showed that the accuracy of OCR was affected by the form and size. In addition, non-standard character of text also could not be recognized. Comparing the difference of English, Japanese, and Chinese, English had very good OCR results, and Chinese had the worst. Overall, the results of OCR were acceptable because it only had minor affects on the retrieving function. It showed that the system could be applied to Japanese full text retrieval system.
