The main objectives of the project are (1) operational management of "Genetically Modified Aquatic Organism Facility"; (2) enrichment of safety risk assessment information for genetically modified aquatic organisms (GMOs), technical platform modification and functional enhancement, and (3) execution of genetic characteristics survey and biosafety assessments of genetically modified ornamental fish, and implementation of gene flow model studies to measure trait values under relevant environmental conditions that take into account the phenotypic effect of the transgene. The purpose is to provide a well-isolated and standard-qualified experimental structure, and establishing an access to assess the risk about aquatic GMOs, in order to effectively control and mitigate the impact on the environment and ecology, and to enhance the development of aquatic biotechnology industry in Taiwan.
