Catch amount of sharptail mola, Masturus lanceolatus, is the highest in the total catch of Molidae (80-90%), it is economically valuable. Sharptail mola was categorized to least concern species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2015. Aims of the study are to investigate the fisheries composition, reproduction activity, and movement patterns of sharptail mola, and connect those data for exploring the population distributions and reproductive characteristics of sharptail mola in eastern Taiwan.
