Taiwan has diverse and abundant natural resources and already documented more than 300 species of shrimp, among them, at least 30 species live in the freshwater area. Due to the freshwater ornamental shrimp culture have become popular, the increasing of marketing value in the native species of shrimp. Even the native species of freshwater shrimp get more application in industry, most freshwater shrimp farming still depends on the wild fry for culture, cause the consumption of natural resources and unstable productivity in the shrimp culture. Therefore, we established the breeding and the larvae nursery of Macrobrachium gracilirostre this year. We also successfully reproductive another native shrimp Atyopsis spinipes, hoping the reproduction results can be applied to the mass production of native shrimp.
