Cobia (Rachycentron canadum) is an important sea-cage farmed marine finfish species. But the survival rate is low after being transferred from ponds into the sea at fry orjuvenile stage. The reason may be owing to the inbreeding depression through the longtime inbreeding process. This study aims to carry out the brood stock cultivation fromthe tamed wild-caught juvenile in order to assess the growth performance and diseaseresistance of their progeny. If the disease resistance of progeny from wild brood stockcan be improved, the survival rate of cobia and their competitiveness of cobia cultureindustry can be enhanced.
