We completed build water treatment system including huge water sedimentation pool, electrolyzed seawater chlorination and filtration system, and water system for model factory for groupers aquaculture. The total bacterial count of raw water passed through this water treatment system is decreasing form 5×102 CFU/ml to 0. The total suspended particles and nitrogenous waste in water are also decreasing. We also completed the test of oxygen system and culvert system and tried to culture large-scale grouper juvenile. On the other hand, we also started to try larval culture of groupers in the model factory. The grouper larval survive 30 days. (Body length is about 1.2 cm) Although those larval dead because of the bad water quality. (The water has be cut off because of the build of water treatment system) This experiment also can supply us the changes of the water quality during the larval culture.
In addition to the building of the facilities, we complete the health screening of the grouper brookstock, especially NNV and GIV disease. In future, we can prouduce good larval with those health brookstock. And we also experimented on grouper hybridization and then breeding two hybrid successfully. (One hybrid is E.brunneus× E. lanceolatus, the other hybrid is E. tukula×E. lanceolatus) The body weight of those hybrid larval is about 150 gm. The survival rate of our indoor grouper larval culture can be above 10%. Above all, we have prepared to the trial operation of the model factory for groupers aquaculture next year.
