The domesticated cat keeping has found dramatic rise in the past decade. Hence, the healthcares and nutrition supplements of market on the domestic feline have gradually received attention. In the 2019, we have createded a functional phospholipid component (MH-Lip.) from mackerel processing byproduct (head) as well as squid byproduct (integument). The MH-Lip. functions have been confirmed the inflammatory regulation effects on a feline primary culture cell. In this year, the Ames test, cell cytotoxicity test, acute oral toxicity test and acute respiratory toxicity analysis of marine phospholipids (from the squid integement and the mackerel head) have further been conducted for evaluation of the biosafty on feline nutrition intake. As the results, compared to the negative control group, the number of colonie at the five test strains included TA97a, TA98, TA100, TA102 and TA1535 did not reach the positive criterion on the MH-Lip treatment group at a concentration of 5 mg/plate. In the cytotoxicity of MH-Lip., adding less than 3 mg/mL MH-Lip. has no obvious toxicity on the peripheral blood mononuclear cells of domestic cats primary culture. In the experiment of an acute oral toxicity, oral administration of single dose (5000mg/Kg of rat weight) SQ-Lip. showed no acute toxic effects on female rats (SD strain) after 48 hours of test. On the 14th day, the sacrificed experimental rat organs were not observed the obvious appearance lesions at the all treatment rats. In the experiment of acute inhalation toxicity, the rats were exposed to 3.23±1.27 mg/L of aersol MH-Lip. through nasal breathing for 4 hours, followed by observation for 14 days. All the animals were alive and were sacrificed after euthanasia on the 14th day. Some animals had occasional non-specific white protrusions or dark red spots/plaques in their lungs, and alveolar tissue sections showed no obvious lesions. Based on the above test results and the relevant bio-safty certification from the US Food and Drug Administration, the MH-Lip. should be the generally recognized as safe substances (GRAS) and should be widely used in the development of food or the companion animal health products markets.
