The male and female ratio of Centropyge loriculus was 1:1, was stocked in 250 liters of PP tanks with artificial feed, and the eggs were collected and calculated to carry out the breeding test of the larvae. The Spawning period of C. loriculus was from June 11 to November 22 and lasted 165 days, including 158 spawning days. The total eggs was 405,829(81.17g), including 185,421 buoyant eggs(45.69%) and 220,408 sinking eggs (54.31%). The average daily spawning number was 2,569±1,200, about 5,000 eggs per gram, the fertilized eggs diameter was 683±16 um. During the period, the water temperature was 24.5-27.5℃. There were 11 pairs of spawning more than 10,000 eggs. The spawning amount of these 11 pairs was 365,448, accounting for 90.05% of the total. Among them, pair F10 laid 76958 eggs, followed by pair F15 with 48366 eggs. The rate of buoyant eggs was the highest in pair F10 (74.28%) and lowest in pair F3 (10.66%). The highest average number of eggs laid per day was 570 ± 278 in pair F10 and the lowest was 186 ± 161 in pair F6.
The newly discovered bait (ciliates) can be preserved and produced in mass production, which will help to improve the survival rate of seedlings. This is a great breakthrough in the research on the breeding of C. loriculus. Combined with another bait purification technology, a stable breeding technology platform will be established in the next year to achieve the purpose of promotion.
