The mud crab Scylla serrata is considered a potentially important marine crab species for selective breeding. Here, the first examined we analyzed the correlation between the gonad and their effects on body weight (BW). In males, the correlation coefficients in weight trait pairs is 0.6861, and in females is 0.4207. The results showed that with the growth of crabs, weight gain, gonads also increased. Selection of breeding crabs, body weight and spawning rate have a positive correlation.
