Herring and Squid were important fisheries during the summer in Peng-Hu, and werealso the mainly economic income of local fishermen. But related researches of those fishresource were deficient since 1987. Therefore, the center worked with department ofmarine fisheries in our institute and completed the investigation of the mechanism offishing ground of squid in the western waters of Hsi Yu (Peng-Hu) in 2000. As thewaters off southern part of Peng-Hu to the Formosa Banks, we effectuated theinvestigations in those area in the following years. In order to build up the squidfishery's basic database, as the resource reference, the items as below:1.The change of seasons and seas in observed points.2.The distributions of animality nekton and alevin.3.The variation of flow velocity.4.Mainly fish species.5.The confirmation of squid's seasonal reproductive.6.The analysis of statistics' data in gained fish.
