Recently, the food safety issue has become the focus of consumers' preference. Tofurther strengthen Taiwan's international competitiveness, it is necessary to establish asupply chain that meets the international standards. Clam is one of the majoraquaculture shellfish in Taiwan. Although its production is mainly used for domesticconsumption, the industry has the potential of exports and profitability when the productdiversity and enhancement of value added are possible. The puropose of this research isto establish the identification system of high quality seeds and standard of productionprocedure. Their impacts on international competitiveness of Taiwan's calm industrywill also be assessed. Our findings are expected to lend a good support on establishingfuture management and to enhance the competitive of the industry as well.
