To learn the advanced technique for microalgae culture and Seaweed-based integrated mariculture in Israel and hope to find the potential algal industry using the deep seawater in Taiwan, I visited National Center for Mariculture, Bengurion University of the Negev, Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research, Nature Beta Technologies, Algatech, Sakura Ltd., Ardag fish hatchery- Ardag Red Sea Mariculture and Maagan Michael Fish Breeding Center. The effect of temperature, light, salinity and nutrient on the growth of three diatom showed the most important factor was the light. Light could be used to control the diatom film development when use the preserved stock culture as seed. The effect of salinity, algal density and nutrients on the growth of Gracilaria germlings indicated low salinity (20 psu) was better and the high growth rate (8-10 %/d) imply it could be the optimal food for the juvenile small abalone.
