The purpose of this study is to monitoring the demersal fisheries resource in northern waters of Taiwan. A total of 21 bottom trawl operations were conducted along the coast waters from northeast part of Taiwan to Miaoli area during 7-10 January, 1-7 August and 6-8 November, 2008. 173 species belong to 87 family were recorded. The predominate species were Japanese butterfish (Psenopsis anomala), lanternbelly (Acropoma japonicum), longspined porcupinefish (Diodon holocanthus), largehead hairtail (Trichiurus lepturus), blackspot threadfin (Polydactylus sextarius), mitre squid (Photololigo chinensis), Boeseman's skate (Raja boesemanie), silver jewfish (Argyrosomus argentatus), skinnycheek lizardfish (Benthosema pterotum), whiskered velvet shrimp (Metapenaeopsis barbata) and yellowfin horse mackerel (Trachurus japonicus), and their rank were decrease as order. The average CPUE was 27.48 kg/hr (range 11.65-44.37kg/hr) in this waters, the most was 35.57 kg/hr for Peng-Cha Yu, Fu-kuei Chio and Pai-Sha Chiaw were 32.0kg/hr, and 20.82 kg/hr for Miaoli. The body length distribution and Gonasomatic index (GSI) showed the catch fish almost immature. The fishery trade record from Tai-his fishing port in 2008 showed that the main fishery species include Trichiurus lepturus, Trachurus japonicus, Psenopsis anomala, Atrobucca nibe, Dentex tumifrons, Cookeolus japonicus, sea eel, small penaeid shrimp etc., and weight about 42.3% of total fisheries quantity. The highest fishery vaule is in September by 45 thousand dollars/ton, and the lowest value is in June by 36 thousand dollars/ton.
