A series of study was conducted to formulate an artificial feed as alternative of blood worms for nursing elver eel. The usage of animal liver and hydrolysed protein was evaluated as additives in a slurry-type feed. The estimation of suitable dietary taurine level was also investigated. The results showed that the leaching problem of elver feed should be considered, when animal liver was served as a feed attractant. Moreover, the improved growth performance can be found in the elver eel fed with the diet containing hydrolysed protein, while the degree of the protein pre-digested was one of the most important concerns. Application of broken line regression analysis to percent weight gain provided an estimate of 374.2mg/kg dietary taurine for maximum growth of elver eel.
