Oyster is the most important shellfish culture in Taiwan. It was belongs to the phylum Mollusca, class Bivalvia, order Ostreoida and family Ostreidae. Oysters are highly variable in shell morphology, which was considerably depending on environment, though its variable appearance can make it difficult to identify. However, much of the oyster classification to date is based on shell characteristics. In order to identify correctly, we have to work with DNA sequence data. The purpose of this project is to establish the species database of oyster in Taiwan. The database combines with morphological description, ecological information and DNA sequences, that are important for further oyster taxonomy study and broodstock management
