This project combines GPS, GIS, and 3G wireless transmission technology
to build off southwestern Taiwan trawl fisheries information system by
using fisheries biological data, catch statistics, satellite remote
sensing imagery (SST, ocean color and sea surface height), spatial
geostatistical analysis techniques to construct fishing ground
distribution, spatial and temporal spwaning distribution, and changes of
environmental variation. The project will provide an instant, effective,
and integrated information to researchers or fishers as an important tool
to identify an optimum fishing area. This can save the time for finding
fish and reduce fuel costs. It can also help decision makers to develop
fisheries management strategy.
