現階段國內農、林、牧及菌種原庫相繼建置完成，且相關資訊網站及資料庫運作已對外開放，提供社會使用。但水產生物種原庫之建立由於其種原及生態環境之特殊性及複雜性較為困難，迄今國內外均未見建置。而水產試驗所水產生物種原庫，在「鹿港淡水繁養殖研究中心種原庫」及「澎湖海洋生物研究中心種原庫」之籌建工程於94年年底完工啟用。急需對水產生物種原保存資訊之整合、管理及利用有所建置與規劃。提供本土水產生物之經濟特性、遺傳資料給民間及學術界進行品種改良之基礎，也可提供給一般民眾暸解水產生物之種原保存之重要性，並做為國際交流之平台，並可提供台灣生物多樣性資料庫充實相關資料。本年度已建立完成國家水產生物種原資訊網站及水產生物種原資料庫，並蒐集水產生物種原庫之活體保存、遺傳、冷凍生殖細胞等相關資料。

The germplasm banks of agriculture, forestry, livestock and bacterium have been established, the information networks and database is available for the public now in Taiwan. Nevertheless, the aquatic germplasm bank is not yet operated now, because it is a difficult task for the complexity and specific characteristics of aquatic environment. The constructions of aquatic germplasm bank at Penghu and Lukung had been finished until the end of 2005, there are the demands for the information management and utility. The information network will provide the economic characteristics, genetic information of local aquatic species for the public and science research to improve the breeds, and be a platform for international germplasm exchange.We propose to construct a aquatic creatures germplasm bank website and aquatic creatures database for collecting the information of live individual, genetic material and cryopreserved germ cell so on. These will increase efficiency for germplasm resources and information exchange, and publish the germplasm information regularly to the public for increasing the realizition of germplasm bank.
