Small abalone
Hybrids of small abalone from four different sources mated, F1: hybrid crossing female farmed from Taiwan with the wild male from Japan; F2: F1 inbred; N: inbred from farmed of Taiwan; NG crossing farmed female with wild male caught from Hualien coast in Taiwan and HN crossing wild female caught Keelung coast in Taiwan with farmed male. The survival rate of 1-month-old larvae, the hybrids were over 5.74~9.42% significantly higher N 1.2~1.54%. We compared the each strain growth rate, F2, NG, F1, N and HN in order. The survival rate of N was 83% the lowest; the others were more than 97%. These results showed that the introduction from outbreed was a significantly improvement on growing up and survival rate.
Red tilapia
The hybrids, TsR♀xCP1♂and TsR♂xCP1♀, were selected from completely diallel mating with red tilapia, Oreochromis spp., and inbred TsR and CP1. There were 4 different crosses, at 6-months-old, all body weight over 350g was chosen, TsR♀xCP1♂: 26.7%; TsR♂xCP1♀: 78.3%; inbred CP1: 65% and inbred TsR was 0%. We used all the crosses to screen molecular marker associated growth, there were 5 loci marker A1, A2, A3, p189 and p176 existing in all over 350g fish. However, the inbred TsR had not over 350g fish, the more than 75% male shared with A1, A2, A3, p189 and p176,the female was not p189 and p176. These results showed that the growth associated marker may be linkage sex determination marker.
