Global climate change has caused the yield reduction of crop feed and forage. The higher and higher feedstuff prices have pushed the livestock producers facing the severest challenge for survival. In this study, we team up all relative researchers in our institute to focus on the exploration of the local feedstuff resources and the improvement of their nutrition value in a whole frame schedule. The studies would include first the survey of available agri- and food by-products in Taiwan, secondly, the development of fermentation technique to upgrade the feed nutrition value, third, the proper application of rice, sweet potato and seed weed to be feed stuff for livestock, and the last to monitoring the food safety of all newly established feedstuff. By all these effort, it is hoped to reduce 5% of the quantity of imported feed and also to build up the energy-saving and carbon-saving feeding model in Taiwan.
