本試驗成功地分別應用RAPD方法,鑑別高親緣性之日本鰻、美洲鰻與歐洲鰻。
分別增幅此3種鰻魚粒線體DNA中,具高度保留性之部分Cytochrome b 基因,其核酸序列長度為410 bp, 而將此高度保留性基因片段分別定序後,分析核酸長度為374 bp 之共識序列,結果美洲鰻與歐洲鰻核酸序列之百分比相似性最高,達97.6,而日本鰻與美洲鰻或歐洲鰻間之核酸序列百分比相似性均為92.0;顯示美洲鰻與歐洲鰻之親緣關係最為接近。

Three related freshwater eels Anguilla japonica, A. rostrata and A. anguilla were discriminated by RAPD (random amplified polymorphic DNA) and PCR-RFLP (polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism) techniques.
A 410 bp highly conserved segment of mitochondrial cytochrome b gene was amplified, respectively, and phylogenetic relationship was analyzed according to the 374 bp consensus sequences of cytochrome b gene. The results showed that A. rostrata and A. anguilla were most closely related, with the highest 97.6 of percent similarity, while between A. japonica and A. rostrata or between A. japonica and A. angiuilla was with the same percent similarity, 92.0.
