本研究開發出一個可以完全由一般消費者操作、自行檢測各種樣本中總生菌數量的簡易套組。其特色為簡單、快速、結果明顯易判、不須附加儀器設備且不需假手技術人員。使用時以吸管取檢體40 ul分別添加於試劑A-1與試劑B中，將含試劑B與檢體之容器劇烈搖晃充分混合後，再以另一吸管取試劑B與檢體之混合液40 ul，添加於試劑A-2中。觀察試劑A-1及A-2於35℃中，12小時以後的顏色變化，若A-1與A-2同時變色表示檢體中生菌數過高，不符合衛生標準。目前開發出的商品原型有3種：檢測標準為105 CFU/ml的TVBC-100000，適用於水產養殖、冰品店及生鮮料理；檢測標準為500 CFU/ml的TVBC-500，適用於溫泉、游泳池及休閒商用水；檢測標準為100 CFU/ml的TVBC-100，適用於學校、公寓、大樓水塔、自來水及飲用水。善用此一友善的檢測工具，即使不具微生物操作技術及實驗室設備的一般消費大眾，亦能輕易做好自主衛生管理的工作。

研究報告摘要(英) A kit, named total viable bacteria counting kit (TVBC kit), which can be used by general consumers to detect total viable bacteria numbers in different samples has been developed in this project. The distinguishing designs of this kit are friendly to use and fast easily to read the results. Moreover, the assistance by technicians or equipments is not necessary while using the kit. To handle the kit, only 3 steps were needed: add 40 ul of sample into tube A-1 and B, respectively; mix tube B, violently; remove 40 ul of mixture in tube B into tube A-2. Results can be read after incubation at 35oC for 12h. Both A-1 and A-2 change to red-purple color means too much viable bacteria in the unqualified sample.Three prototypes of TVBC kit have been developed. TVBC-100000 matched the criterion of 105 CFU/ml. It can be applied in the management of aquaculture, preparation of shaved ice and dealing with fresh food. TVBC-500 matched the criterion of 500 CFU/ml. It can be applied in the water quality inspection of spa, hot springs and swimming pools. TVBC-100 matched the criterion of 100 CFU/ml. It can be applied in the quality control of tap water and drinking water. Using the friendly detecting tool well, even a common person can practice the sanitation management by himself.
