To clarify the dynamics of larval fish assemblages in the coastal waters off Taiwan, a 4 years study is conducted by season in the 60 stations of the area. A total of 6,531 larvae representing 136 taxa and 84 families as well as 197,908 eggs were caught from 4 seasons of 2004-2005. Based on the Bray-Curtis similarity indices and clustering analysis, 2, 2, 2, and 5 geographic groups of larval fish assemblages were found in spring, summer, autumn and winter in the coastal waters off Taiwan, respectively. These groups represented the Kuroshio Current and its branch, as well as Coastal Current of China. These assemblages were comprised different species and reflected different origin of them.
